Abhydrolase Domain Containing Protein 1 (ABHD1)

LABH1; Lung alpha/beta hydrolase 1

Abhydrolase Domain Containing Protein 1 (ABHD1)
ABDH1 contains 9 exons and spans 6.9 kb. It has a CpG island in the promoter region, and its 3- prime UTR overlaps with the 3-prime UTR of the PREB gene in an antisense manner. The 42-bp overlap includes a short CpG island and a polyadenylation signal that is utilized by both genes.
The deduced 412-amino acid protein has a central core predicted to form alpha/beta hydrolase folds and has a ser-ala-his catalytic triad characteristic of peroxidases. By database analysis, the authors identified human ABHD1, which encodes a deduced 405-amino acid protein that shares 79% amino acid identity with mouse Abhd1. Real-time PCR detected Abhd1 in most adult mouse tissues examined, with highest expression in liver. Abhd1 was also expressed at all embryonic stages examined.
