Origin Recognition Complex Subunit 4 Like Protein (ORC4L)
The origin recognition complex (ORC) is a highly conserved six subunit protein complex essential for the initiation of the DNA replication in eukaryotic cells.
ORC4L is a subunit of the ORC complex. It has been shown to form a core complex with ORC2L, -3L, and -5L. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been reported. The predicted 436-amino acid human ORC4L protein, which they called HsORC4P, shares 29% sequence identity with yeast ORC4. Antibodies against ORC4L detected a 45-kD doublet on immunoblots of human cell lysates. Immunoprecipitation studies revealed that ORC4L associates with multiple cellular proteins, including ORC2L, in vivo.
