RNA Binding Motif Protein 28 (RBM28)

RNA Binding Motif Protein 28 (RBM28)
RBM28 is a specific nucleolar component of the spliceosomal small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP)complexes. The deduced 759-amino acid RBM28 protein has a calculated molecular mass of 85 kD. It contains 4 RNA recognition motifs (RRM) and an extremely acidic region of 32 amino acids between RNA recognition motifs 2 and 3.
Human RBM28 shares more than 80% identity with orthologs from other mammals, but only moderate similarity with those from lower vertebrates. Immunofluorescence microscopy detected RBM28 in a patchy nuclear distribution that largely overlapped that of nucleolar protein-1 (NOL1) in HeLa cells. By SDS-PAGE, RBM28 had an apparent molecular mass of 100 kD.
