1-Acylglycerol-3-Phosphate-O-Acyltransferase 3 (AGPAT3)

LPAAT3; LPAAT-GAMMA1; 1-Acylglycerol 3-Phosphate O-Acyltransferase Gamma; Lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferase gamma

1-Acylglycerol-3-Phosphate-O-Acyltransferase 3 (AGPAT3)
AGPAT3 is an acyltransferase that converts lysophosphatidic acid into phosphatidic acid, which is the second step in the de novo phospholipid biosynthetic pathway. The encoded protein may be an integral membrane protein. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases, specifically those acyltransferases transferring groups other than aminoacyl groups. The systematic name of this enzyme class is acyl-CoA:1-acyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphate 2-O-acyltransferase.This enzyme participates in 3 metabolic pathways: glycerolipid metabolism, glycerophospholipid metabolism, and ether lipid metabolism.
