AT-Rich Interactive Domain Containing Protein 5B (ARID5B)
The deduced 743-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 83 kD and contains a central ARID domain. Mouse and human ARID5B share 82% identity over a 246-amino acid stretch that includes the ARID domain. Northern blot analysis detected a 9.0-kb transcript expressed in mouse lung, heart, small intestine, kidney, muscle, and brain. RT-PCR detected expression in most organs examined.
Lahoud et al. (2001) determined that the ARID domain of mouse Arid5b bound a (TAA)9 repeat. Excess unlabeled (TAA)9 competed with radiolabeled (TAA)9 for binding with the ARID domain, but excess unlabeled GC-containing nonspecific oligonucleotide did not.
