ATPase Type 13A4 (ATP13A4)

P5-ATPase isoform 4; Probable cation-transporting ATPase 13A4

ATPase Type 13A4 (ATP13A4)
The protein contains 10 transmembrane segments, a cation ATPase domain, an E1-E2 ATPase domain, a nucleotide-binding domain, a hydrolase domain, and a phosphatase site. The nucleotide-binding domain contains a PPxxP motif characteristic of P5 ATPases. Northern blot analysis detected a 5.2-kb ATP13A4 transcript in heart, placenta, liver, skeletal muscle, and pancreas. Lower expression was detected in brain, lung, and kidney. ATP13A4 expression was detected in several specific brain regions, including cerebral cortex, cerebellum, putamen, and temporal lobe. RT-PCR detected ATP13A4 expression in all adult and fetal tissues tested. Expression in fetal brain was significantly higher than that observed in adult brain, with levels similar to those in other fetal tissues, including spleen and skeletal muscle.
