Ankyrin Repeat And Fibronectin Type III Domain Containing Protein 1 (ANKFN1)

Ankyrin Repeat And Fibronectin Type III Domain Containing Protein 1 (ANKFN1)
ANKFN1, Contains 1 fibronectin type-III domain. The Fibronectin type III domain is an evolutionary conserved protein domain that is widely found in animal proteins. The fibronectin protein in which this domain was first identified contains 16 copies of this domain. The domain is about 100 amino acids long and possesses a beta sandwich structure.
While the activity of PTEN as repressor of the AKT pathway is well documented, PTENP1 is known to transcribe a processed pseudogene but the involvement in cancer has never been reported. At 10% coverage, an additional hit is found, which involves the last 50 amino acids of PTEN and matches to the intronic region between exons 3 and 4 of ANKFN1 (ankyrin-repeat and fibronectin type III domain containing 1).
