Ankyrin Repeat Domain Protein 30A (ANKRD30A)
By database analysis, Hahn et al. (2006) identified ANKRD30A as a distant homolog of the POTE family . The deduced 1,341-amino acid protein contains 6 N-terminal ankyrin repeats and a C-terminal coiled-coil region.Hahn et al. (2006) determined that the ANKRD30A gene contains 37 exons.By genomic sequence analysis, Hahn et al. (2006) mapped the ANKRD30A gene to chromosome 10p11.21.
Lee et al. (2006)determined that the POTE genes entered the primate genome before the divergence of New World monkeys and Old World monkeys. A beta-actin sequence was inserted at the 3-prime end of an ancestral POTE gene before the divergence of Old World monkeys and apes and is now present in several POTE paralogs, including the POTE2 genes.
