Anoctamin 3 (ANO3)

TMEM16C; C11orf25; Transmembrane Protein 16C(Eight Membrane-Spanning Domains)

Anoctamin 3 (ANO3)
Anoctamin 3 belongs to the anoctamin family.May act as a calcium-activated chloride channel.Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein
By database searching with the sequence of TMEM16A as query, Katoh and Katoh (2003) identified TMEM16C. The deduced 981-amino acid TMEM16B protein shares 38.3% sequence identity with TMEM16A. Like TMEM16A, TMEM16C contains 8 potential transmembrane regions with the N- and C-terminal tails facing the cytoplasm and an N-linked glycosylation site in the fourth extracellular loop.By sequence analysis, Katoh and Katoh (2003) mapped the TMEM16C gene to chromosome 11p14.
