Arrestin Domain Containing Protein 3 (ARRDC3)

TLIMP; TBP-2-like inducible membrane protein

Arrestin Domain Containing Protein 3 (ARRDC3)
ARRDC3 shares 40% amino acid identity with TXNIP and 25% similarity with beta-arrestin-1 (ARRB1). Northern blot analysis of human tissues and cancer cell lines detected a 4.5-kb transcript with high expression in skeletal muscle, placenta, kidney, adrenal gland, lymph node, mammary gland, thyroid, and trachea. Weak expression was detected in colon, thymus, spleen, small intestine, bladder, and bone marrow. ARRDC3 showed strong expression in a lung adenocarcinoma cell line and low expression in other cell lines examined. Immunofluorescence and other studies localized ARRDC3 to the inner side of the plasma membrane and to small vesicular structures distributed throughout the cytoplasm.ARRDC3 is associated with the plasma membrane, endosomes, and lysosomes during endocytosis.
