C9orf89; Chromosome 9 Open Reading Frame 89

Bcl10 Interacting CARD Protein (BinCARD)
BinCARD Contains 1 CARD domain. which is defined by the presence of a characteristic caspase-associated recruitment domain (CARD). CARD is a protein interaction domain known to participate in activation or suppression of CARD containing members of the caspase family, and thus plays an important regulatory role in cell apoptosis.
Expressed in ovary, testis, placenta, skeletal muscle, kidney, lung, heart and liver (at protein level). Expressed in thymus and brain. Plays a role in inhibiting the effects of BCL10-induced activation of NF-kappa-B. May inhibit the phosphorylation of BCL10 in a CARD-dependent manner. The CARD domains of both proteins have been shown to specifically interact with BCL10, a protein known to function as a positive regulator of cell apoptosis and NF-kappaB activation.
