Breast Cancer Metastasis Suppressor 1 Like Protein (BRMS1L)

BRMS1-homolog protein p40; BRMS1-like protein p40

Breast Cancer Metastasis Suppressor 1 Like Protein (BRMS1L)
BRMS1L shows sequence similarity to the human breast carcinoma metastasis suppressor (BRMS1) protein and the mammalian Sds3 (suppressor of defective silencing 3) proteins. This protein is a component of the mSin3a family of histone deacetylase complexes (HDAC).
There are several regions spanning the long arm of chromosome 11 for which associations have been made with progression of breast cancer. Among the most common changes are amplification and deletion involving regions near band 11q13. Deletions involving 11q13-q14 are observed in high frequency in late-stage, metastatic breast carcinomas. This gene reduces the metastatic potential, but not the tumorogenicity, of human breast cancer and melanoma cell lines.
