CD163 Molecule Like Protein 1 (CD163L1)

CD163B; M160; Scavenger receptor cysteine-rich type 1 protein M160

CD163 Molecule Like Protein 1 (CD163L1)
CD163L1 encodes a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) superfamily. The 100- to 110-amino acid SRCR domain mediates ligand binding and protein-protein interactions. SRCRs are divided into groups A and B based on the localization and number of their cys residues. Members of group A have 6 cys residues and lack cys residues at positions 1 and 4, while members of group B have either 8 or 6 cys residues and always have cys residues at positions 1 and 4. In addition, group A SRCR domains are encoded by 2 exons, whereas group B SRCR domains are encoded by a single exon.
Constitutive expression of M160 was found in monocytoid but not lymphoid cell lines, and expression was augmented upon prolonged stimulation with phorbol ester.
