CDC42 Effector Protein 4 (CDC42EP4)

CEP4; BORG4; Binder Of Rho GTPases 4

CDC42 Effector Protein 4 (CDC42EP4)
CDC42EP4 is a member of the CDC42-binding protein family. This protein has been shown to bind both CDC42 and TC10 GTPases in a GTP-dependent manner. When overexpressed in fibroblasts, this protein was able to induce pseudopodia formation, which suggested a role in inducing actin filament assembly and cell shape control.
BORG4 shares highly conserved CRIB, BH1, and BH3 domains, and a less well-conserved BH2 domain. RT-PCR analysis showed that Borg4 is expressed ubiquitously at low levels in adult mouse tissues.the 356-amino acid CEP4 protein contains a conserved BH2, or CI, domain; binds through its CRIB domain with CDC42 but not with RAC; induces pseudopodia formation; and is expressed in fibroblast cytoplasm and membrane.
