CDK5 Regulatory Subunit Associated Protein 3 (CDK5RAP3)

C53; HSF-27; IC53; LZAP; Ischemic Heart CDK5 Activator-Binding Protein C53; LXXLL/Leucine-Zipper-Containing ARF Binding Protein

CDK5 Regulatory Subunit Associated Protein 3 (CDK5RAP3)
CDK5RAP3binds to p25NCK5A and therefore may be involved in neuronal differentiation. The encoded protein, which may be a substrate of neuronal CDC2-like kinase, has also been found in vascular endothelial cells, where it mediates cell proliferation.
CDK5RAP3 has 2 leucine zipper motifs, several putative phosphorylation and N-myristoylation sites, and no signal peptide. Northern blot analysis detected transcripts of 3.2 and 2.0 kb expressed in all normal tissues examined, with highest expression of the 3.2-kb transcript in peripheral blood leukocytes, liver, and kidney, and highest expression of the 2.0-kb transcript in heart. Both transcripts were expressed in all tumor cell lines examined.
