COMM Domain Containing Protein 8 (COMMD8)

COMMD8, Contains 1 COMM domain. In additition to COMMD1, COMMD2, COMMD8 and COMMD10, but not the other COMMD proteins directly interact with the WD protein ATP7B, suggesting that these proteins might function in the regulation of copper homeostasis.

Eight known polymorphisms, but no mutations in the COMMD2, COMMD8 and COMMD10 genes, including the exon-intron boundaries, were identified in a total of 18 patients with non-Wilsonian hepatic copper toxicosis. COMMD2, COMMD8 and COMMD10 directly interact with the WD protein ATP7B, but their involvement in the pathogenesis of non-Wilsonian hepatic copper toxicosis appears unlikely.
