CUB And Sushi Multiple Domains Protein 3 (CSMD3)

CUB And Sushi Multiple Domains Protein 3 (CSMD3)
The deduced 3,504-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of about 383 kD. Like CSMD1 , CSMD3 contains an N-terminal signal peptide, followed by 14 alternating CUB and sushi domains, 13 additional tandem sushi domains (CSMD1 has 14), a single transmembrane region, and a short cytoplasmic tail that contains putative phosphorylation sites.Northern blot analysis detected a 13-kb transcript expressed mainly in adult brain, fetal brain, and testis. Shorter transcripts were also detected in testis and fetal brain, and smears were seen in pancreas and spleen. RT-PCR detected tissue-specific expression of several CSMD3 splice variants in adult brain, heart, kidney, lung, pancreas, placenta, skeletal muscle, prostate, small intestine, spleen, testis, and thymus, and in fetal brain, heart, lung, and spleen.
