CUGBP Elav Like Family, Member 5 (CELF5)

CELF5contains 2 N-terminal RNA-recognition motifs (RRMs), a long linker region, and a C-terminal RRM. In addition to the RRMs, the deduced 481-amino acid protein contains multiple potential phosphorylation sites and a consensus nuclear localization signal near the C terminus. RNA dot blot analysis detected CELF5 expression in brain only.

CELF5 expression in all adult brain regions examined and in fetal brain. Little to no expression was detected in other tissues.human CELF proteins, including CELF5, bound RNA containing muscle-specific splicing enhancer (MSE) elements and could activate MSE-dependent exon inclusion of cardiac troponin T (TNNT2) minigenes in transfected quail fibroblasts.
