Calcium Binding 39 Like Protein (CAB39L)

MO2L; Mo25-like protein

Calcium Binding 39 Like Protein (CAB39L)
By searching databases for sequences similar to MO25-alpha (CAB39), Boudeau et al. (2003) identified CAB39L, which they designated MO25-beta. The deduced protein contains 334 amino acids. Western blot analysis detected MO25-beta expression in several mouse tissues and mammalian cell lines, including human embryonic kidney cells.Using coimmunoprecipitation analysis, Boudeau et al. (2003) showed that MO25-beta interacted with the serine/threonine kinase LKB1 (STK11) and either STRAD-alpha (LYK5) or STRAD-beta (ALS2CR2) in an equimolar heterotrimeric protein complex. MO25-beta and STRAD-beta stabilized LKB1 in an active complex. Boudeau et al. (2003) concluded that MO25-beta may function as a scaffolding component of the complex.
