Calcium/Calmodulin Dependent Protein Kinase ID (CAMK1D)

CKLiK; CaMKI-like protein kinase

Calcium/Calmodulin Dependent Protein Kinase ID (CAMK1D)
CAMK1D is expressed in polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) and may be part of the chemokine signal transduction pathway that regulates granulocyte function.
The deduced 357-amino acid protein showed an apparent molecular mass of about 40 kD following in vitro translation. CKLIK shares 77% amino acid homology with calcium/calmodulin-dependent kinase-1 (CAMK1). RNase protection analysis detected high expression of CKLIK in PMNs, but showed no expression in monocytes, lymphocytes, or any of the lymphoid or myeloid cell lines examined.Similar results were found when the stem cells differentiated toward eosinophils in the presence of IL5. CKLIK activity was induced by IL8 in a myeloid cell line stably expressing CKLIK.
