Calsyntenin 3 (CLSTN3)

CSTN3; CDHR14; CS3; Alc-beta; Cadherin-Related Family Member 14; Alcadein-beta

Calsyntenin 3 (CLSTN3)
CLSTN3 shares 52% amino acid identity with CLSTN1 and 94% identity with its mouse homolog. Northern blot analysis of human tissues detected high expression of a 4-kb transcript in brain and kidney, with lower expression in heart, skeletal muscle, liver, placenta, pancreas, and lung. Mouse Clstn3 was expressed exclusively in brain. In situ hybridization detected Clstn3 in most adult mouse brain regions examined, and its expression varied between distinct neuronal populations.
The deduced protein contains 968 amino acids. RT-PCR ELISA detected highest CLSTN3 expression in brain and ovary. High expression was also present in kidney, lung, and liver, and expression was moderate in heart, pancreas, spleen, testis, and skeletal muscle.
