Carboxypeptidase A6 (CPA6)

CPAH

Carboxypeptidase A6 (CPA6)
Carboxypeptidases have functions ranging from digestion of food to selective biosynthesis of neuroendocrine peptides. Members of the A/B subfamily of carboxypeptidases, such as CPA6, contain an approximately 90-amino acid pro region that assists in the folding of the active carboxypeptidase domain. Cleavage of the pro region activates the enzyme.
The deduced 437-amino acid protein contains an N-terminal signal peptide, followed by a pro domain and a carboxypeptidase catalytic domain that includes residues involved in zinc coordination and substrate catalysis. RT-PCR analysis detected CPA6 expression in human fetal umbilical cord blood and in mouse brain.
