Carcinoembryonic Antigen Related Cell Adhesion Molecule 19 (CEACAM19)

CEAL1; Carcinoembryonic antigen-like 1

Carcinoembryonic Antigen Related Cell Adhesion Molecule 19 (CEACAM19)
CEAL1, encodes a deduced 300-amino acid protein with a predicted molecular mass of 32.6 kD. The protein contains 2 immunoglobulin-like transmembrane domains and a domain homologous to the translation initiation factor eIF-5A. It has a hydrophobic N-terminal region and contains numerous potential sites for O-glycosylation and phosphorylation as well as several predicted N-myristoylation sites. A splice variant of CEAL1 encodes a 142-amino acid protein that lacks the immunoglobulin-like domains.A similar expression pattern was found for the truncated CEAL1 splice variant. RT-PCR analysis showed high expression of CEAL1 in breast and prostate cancer cell lines; its expression was downregulated by dexamethasone in a steroid hormone receptor-positive breast cancer cell line.
