Cbp/p300 Interacting Transactivator, With Glu/Asp Rich Carboxy Terminal Domain 4 (CITED4)
CITED4 belongs to a family of transcriptional coactivators that bind several proteins, including CREB-binding protein and p300. The deduced 184-amino acid protein contains the conserved 32-amino acid C-terminal motif of other CITED peptides. Northern blot analysis detected near ubiquitous expression of a 1.8-kb transcript, with highest levels in heart, liver, skeletal muscle, and pancreas. High expression was also found in several breast cancer cell lines and in a bladder cell line with endothelial characteristics. Endogenous CITED4, visualized by Western blot analysis, migrated at 24.5 kD. Confocal immunolocalization studies showed that CITED4 localizes in the nucleus in most cell lines, and in both the nucleus and cytoplasm in others. CITED4 interacts with CBP/p300 through residues 138-184 of the C terminus.
