Members of the chemokine-like factor superfamily, including CKLFSF4, share similarity with both the chemokine and the transmembrane 4 superfamilies of signaling molecules.One variant encodes a 234-amino acid protein with 4 transmembrane segments. CKLFSF4 shares about 31% sequence identity with CKLFSF6. Northern blot analysis detected transcripts of 1.2, 3.4, and 8.2 kb in prostate and testis. These 37 genes included several splicing factors for which knockdown generates mitotic spindle defects. In addition, a putative nuclear-export terminator was found to speed up cell proliferation and mitotic progression after knockdown.
