Chromodomain Helicase DNA Binding Protein 2 (CHD2)

ATP-dependent helicase CHD2

Chromodomain Helicase DNA Binding Protein 2 (CHD2)
Chromodomain-helicase-DNA-binding protein 2 is an enzyme encoded by the CHD2 gene. The CHD family of proteins is characterized by the presence of chromo (chromatin organization modifier) domains and SNF2-related helicase/ATPase domains. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene.Woodage et al. characterized the human CHD2 gene. The predicted 1,739-amino acid polypeptide shares 58.6% identity and 69.5% similarity overall with the mouse Chd1 gene product.Kulkarni et al. showed that murine Chd2 was expressed in the heart, forebrain, extremities, facial and dorsal regions during specific times of embryonic development.Woodage et al.mapped the CHD2 gene to chromosome 15q26 by PCR screening of the Genebridge 4 radiation hybrid mapping panel.
