Neuroblastoma Breakpoint Family, Member 12 (NBPF12)

COAS1; Chromosome 1 Amplified Sequence 1

Neuroblastoma Breakpoint Family, Member 12 (NBPF12)
COAS1 contains 921 amino acids. The transcript contains 3 complete and 1 partial repeat of 866 bases within the 3-prime UTR, and each repeat contains 4 smaller subrepeats of 175 bases. Northern blot analysis detected COAS1 expression in most normal tissues tested, with highest levels in brain, ovary, mammary gland, skin, and adipose tissue. COAS1 was also expressed in most tumor samples and cell lines tested, with highest expression in osteosarcomas that had high-level amplification of the gene. Expression was also high in 2 mammary carcinomas.
The deduced protein contains 892 amino acids. RT-PCR ELISA detected weak expression only in liver and in several individual brain regions, with highest levels in amygdala.
