Single Pass Membrane And Coiled Coil Domain Containing Protein 4 (SMCO4)
The deduced protein shares 90% and 80% identity with mouse and pufferfish Fn5, respectively. Northern blot analysis of several human tissues detected strongest expression of a 0.9-kb FN5 transcript in liver, prostate, and testis.Kehrer-Sawatzki et al. (2000) identified a PAC clone containing the FN5 gene by PCR and Southern hybridization, and they mapped the clone to chromosome 17q21.3-q22 using FISH. PCR of a somatic cell hybrid panel and a regional mapping panel mapped a second copy of the FN5 gene to chromosome 11q13.3-q23.3.The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the FN5 gene to chromosome 11. Hartz (2005) mapped the FN5 gene to chromosome 11q21 based on an alignment of the FN5 sequence with the genomic sequence.
