Asunder Spermatogenesis Regulator (ASUN)
C12orf11 belongs to the Cell cycle regulator C12orf11 family. Mat89Bb is separated from Mst89B by at most 100 bp; Mst89B and Mat89Ba are convergently transcribed and their 3' untranslated regions (UTRs) overlap by a minimum of 85 bp.
These sequences, belonging to coding regions of two novel genes designated here as GCT1 and GCT2, were broadly expressed in a panel of human tissues, including testis and ovary. GCT1 and GCT2 were overexpressed in 92 and 71 percent, respectively, of a panel of seminomas tested. Combined array comparative genomic hybridization and array expression analysis is a valid approach for gene discovery in large chromosomal amplicons.
