Chromosome 6 Open Reading Frame 1 (C6orf1)

LBH

Chromosome 6 Open Reading Frame 1 (C6orf1)
Using a positional cloning strategy to identify genes 3-prime to the HMGIY gene (HMGA1) on chromosome 6, Kazmierczak et al. (1999) cloned C6ORF1, which they called LBH. Northern blot analysis detected 1- and 3-kb transcripts in spleen, thymus, prostate, testis, uterus, small intestine, colon, and peripheral blood leukocytes. An additional band of 1.8 kb was detected in spleen and thymus.
Kazmierczak et al. (1999) determined that the C6ORF1 gene contains at least 5 exons.By genomic sequence analysis, Kazmierczak et al. (1999) mapped the C6ORF1 gene to chromosome 6p21.3 on the opposite strand in a tail-to-tail orientation to HMGA1.
