Solute Carrier Family 18, Member B1 (SLC18B1)

C6orf192; MFS-type transporter SLC18B1

Solute Carrier Family 18, Member B1 (SLC18B1)
C6ORF192 belongs to the major facilitator superfamily of solute carriers. These carriers function as uniporters, symporters, and antiporters.
C6ORF192 shares highest similarity with the SLC18 family, as well as significant similarity with the SLC16 and SLC17 families. RT-PCR analysis detected C6orf192 expression in all mouse tissues examined, with highest expression in lung, followed by pancreas and kidney. In central nervous system, highest expression was detected in hypothalamus, followed by thalamus and cerebellum. In situ hybridization of mouse brain sections localized high levels of C6orf192 in the induseum griseum and piriform area of cerebral cortex, medial habenula of thalamus, and central lobules 1 through 5 of cerebellum.
