Chromosome Y Open Reading Frame 15B (CYorf15B)

Chromosome Y Open Reading Frame 15B (CYorf15B)
CYORF15B is an X-degenerate gene that is homologous to the 3-prime portion of the X-linked CXORF15 gene; CYORF15A is homologous to the 5-prime portion of CXORF15. X-degenerate genes are remnants of ancient autosomes from which the modern X and Y chromosomes evolved. CYORF15B gene is ubiquitously expressed.
CYORF15A is an X-degenerate gene that is homologous to the 5-prime portion of the X-linked CXORF15 gene; CYORF15B is homologous to the 3-prime portion of CXORF15. X-degenerate genes are remnants of ancient autosomes from which the modern X and Y chromosomes evolved. CYORF15B is a single-copy gene that maps to chromosome Yq. It is located in the male-specific region of chromosome Y (MSY), which does not engage in X-Y crossover events.
