Clavesin 2 (CLVS2)

C6orf212; C6orf213; RLBP1L2; Retinaldehyde Binding Protein 1-Like 2

Clavesin 2 (CLVS2)
CLVS2 binding to PtdIns(3,5)P2 is not required for localization. Required for normal morphology of late endosomes and/or lysosomes in neurons By similarity. Binds phosphatidylinositol 3,5-bisphosphate.
Forms a complex with clathrin heavy chain and gamma-adaptin.
RT-PCR analysis of 18 human tissues showed expression of RLBP1L1 exclusively in brain. Transfection experiments with an EGFP-RLBP1L1 fusion construct in HeLa cells showed localization to the cytoplasm where the RLBP1 protein localizes.Kong et al. (2006) determined that RLBP1L1 contains 6 exons and spans about 212 kb.By sequence analysis, Kong et al. (2006) mapped the RLBP1L1 gene to chromosome 8q12.2 between D8S1225 and RH12812 STS markers.
