Coiled Coil Domain Containing Protein 88B (CCDC88B)

Based on in silico analysis with the sequence of HKRP1 (CCDC88A) as query, Simpson et al. (2005) identified a homologous gene, which they designated HKRP3, encoding a putative 1,607-amino acid protein. Enomoto et al. (2006) also described HKRP3, based on clone FLJ00354, as encoding a 1,476-amino acid protein. Database analysis indicated that the protein is preferentially expressed in the hematopoietic system.

Simpson et al. (2005) also identified the CCDC88A gene, which they designated HKRP1, and identified 2 members of the same family, HKRP2 (CCDC88C) and HKRP3 (CCDC88B).
