Coiled Coil Domain Containing Protein 47 (CCDC47)

Asp4; Adipocyte-Specific Protein 4

Coiled Coil Domain Containing Protein 47 (CCDC47)
The coiled-coil domain is a common protein motif that is often involved in protein oligomerization and is found in proteins such as transcription factors and intermediate filaments. The gene maps to chromosome 17 at 17q23.3. Little is known about this single-pass membrane protein except that the coiled-coil domain is within the cytosolic domain near the carboxy terminus.
These domains are protein-protein interaction domains consisting of two or more alpha-helical domains twisting around each other to form a supercoil. The sequences of coiled-coils contain simple repetitive elements of seven primarily apolar residues (called heptads) with a periodicity of one heptad over two helical turns.
