Centaurin Gamma 2 (CENTg2)

AGAP1; GGAP1; Arf-GAP With GTPase,ANK Repeat And PH Domain-Containing Protein 1; GTP-binding and GTPase-activating protein 1

Centaurin Gamma 2 (CENTg2)
CENTG2 belongs to an ADP-ribosylation factor GTPase-activating (ARF-GAP) protein family involved in membrane traffic and actin cytoskeleton dynamics. The deduced protein contains 804 amino acids and shares 56% amino acid identity with CENTG1. CENTG2 expression in whole brain, kidney, and all specific adult brain regions examined. Expression was somewhat lower in all other adult and fetal tissues examined, with lowest expression in spleen. The AGAP1 protein has an N-terminal G protein-like domain, followed by a central pleckstrin homology (PH) domain, an ARF-GAP domain, and 2 C-terminal ankyrin repeats. The G protein-like domain contains 3 GTP-binding motifs, and the PH domain is distinct from other ASAP-type ARF-GAPs in that it is split and extends over 189 residues.
