Crumbs Homolog 2 (CRB2)

Crumbs-like protein 2

Crumbs Homolog 2 (CRB2)
Using a bioinformatics approach, Katoh and Katoh (2004) identified a novel human homolog of the Drosophila Crumbs (CRB) gene, designated CRB2. As a result of alternative splicing, CRB2 encodes 2 isoforms: isoform 1, a putative type I transmembrane protein of 1,285 amino acids, and isoform 2, a secreted protein of 1,176 amino acids. CRB isoform 1 shares 24.4% sequence identity with human CRB1 and contains 14 extracellular EGF-like domains, 3 extracellular laminin G-like domains, and the CRB cytoplasmic tail (CCT) domain.
Katoh and Katoh (2004) determined that the CRB2 gene contains 13 exons. CRB2 isoform 1 is encoded by exons 1-13, and CRB2 isoform 2 is encoded by exons 1-10 and intron 10.
