Cullin Associated And Neddylation Dissociated Protein 2 (CAND2)
By sequencing clones obtained from a size-fractionated brain cDNA library, Ishikawa et al. (1998) cloned CAND2, which they designated KIAA0667. The deduced protein shares significant similarity with rat Tip120 (CAND1). RT-PCR detected highest CAND2 expression in skeletal muscle, intermediate expression in heart and testis, low expression in brain, ovary, and lung, and very low expression in all other tissues examined.
Northern blot analysis of several rat tissues detected expression only in skeletal muscle and heart. In mouse embryos, Tip120b expression began at embryonic day 11, a stage that coincides with limb bud formation, then expression decreased until day 17. Western blot analysis detected a 135-kD protein in rat skeletal muscle, heart, and testis.
