Cyclin Dependent Kinase 17 (CDK17)

PCTK2; PCTAIRE2; Serine/Threonine-Protein Kinase PCTAIRE-2; Cell division protein kinase 17; PCTAIRE-motif protein kinase 2

Cyclin Dependent Kinase 17 (CDK17)
Serine/Threonine-Protein Kinase PCTAIRE-2 belongs to the cdc2/cdkx subfamily of the ser/thr family of protein kinases. It has similarity to rat protein which is thought to play a role in terminally differentiated neurons.
Like other members of the PCTAIRE subfamily, the predicted PCTAIRE2 protein contains an N-terminal extension relative to CDC2. The CDC2-related region of PCTAIRE2, excluding the N-terminal extension, shares 55%, 83%, and 80% protein sequence identity with CDC2, PCTK1, and PCTK3, respectively. Northern blot analysis revealed that PCTAIRE2 is expressed as 4.7- and 4.4-kb mRNAs in a variety of human cell lines and tissues.
