The COX7B2 gene encodes an 80-residue protein and has a 499-bp mRNA transcript (Liang et al., 2004; Strausberg et al., 2002).Liang et al. (2004) stated that the COX7B2 gene contains 3 exons.

By sequence analysis, the COX7B2 gene maps to chromosome 4p12 (Strausberg et al., 2002).For a discussion of a possible association between variation in the COX7B2 gene and susceptibility to the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Liang et al. (2004) identified a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the COX7B2 gene (H26Q) on 4p12 in 2 affected members of a Chinese family (pedigree 31) with nasopharyngeal carcinoma linked to chromosome 4p14-p11.
