Dynein, Cytoplasmic 1, Light Intermediate Chain 1 (DYNC1LI1)
DYNC1LI1 was cloned from rat and found to have a P-loop motif, which is one of the major conserved motifs making up the nucleotide-binding domain found in numerous proteins, including ATPases and kinases. DYNC1LI1, however, lacks other essential motifs associated with ATPase activity, which itself has not been assayed. DYNC1LI and its phospho-isoform are exclusively found with dynein in the slow component of axonal transport in rat optic nerves . In HeLa cells, DYNC1LI1 localizes to the microtubule organizing centre and mitotic spindle, co-localizing with the GTPase Rab4a; thus DYNC1LI1 may be implicated in the regulation of membrane-receptor recycling. In the chicken DYNC1LI1 has been called DLC-A, as part of the DLC-A group of light chains.
