DEAD Box Polypeptide 53 (DDX53)

CAGE; CT26; Cancer Associated Gene; Cancer/Testis Atigen 26; Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp Box Polypeptide 53; Probable ATP-dependent RNA helicase DDX53

DEAD Box Polypeptide 53 (DDX53)
DDX53 Expressed in testis. Wide expression in various cancer tissues and cancer cell lines. Belongs to the DEAD box helicase family.Contains 1 helicase ATP-binding domain.Contains 1 helicase C-terminal domain.Contains 1 KH domain. This intronless gene encodes a protein which contains several domains found in members of the DEAD-box helicase protein family. Other members of this protein family participate in ATP-dependent RNA unwinding.
DEAD box proteins are involved in an assortment of metabolic processes that involve RNA. They are highly conserved in nine domains and can be found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes, but not all. Many organisms, including humans, contain DEAD-box helicases, which are involved in RNA metabolism.these proteins involved in RNA metabolism had several common elements.
