DEAH Box Polypeptide 57 (DHX57)

DEAH(Asp-Glu-Ala-His)Box Polypeptide 57; Putative ATP-dependent RNA helicase DHX57

DEAH Box Polypeptide 57 (DHX57)
DHX57 belongs to the DEAD box helicase family. DEAH subfamily.Contains 1 C3H1-type zinc finger.Contains 1 helicase ATP-binding domain.Contains 1 helicase C-terminal domain.Contains 1 UBA domain.
DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family are believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. DHX57 encodes a DEAD box protein with RNA helicase activity. It may participate in melting of DNA:RNA hybrids, such as those that occur during transcription, and may play a role in X-linked gene expression. The RNA-binding domains and RGG box influence and regulate RNA helicase activity.
