Decapping Enzyme Scavenger (DCPS)

DCS1; HINT5; HSL1; m7GpppX diphosphatase; Decapping scavenger enzyme; Histidine triad nucleotide-binding protein 5; Histidine triad protein member 5

Decapping Enzyme Scavenger (DCPS)
The predicted 337-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 38.6 kD and shares 89% amino acid identity with mouse Dcps. DCPS has a 6-amino acid sequence of alternating histidine and hydrophobic residues that comprises the core sequence of the histidine triad (HIT) pyrophosphatase motif, which can confer nucleotide binding and hydrolysis of pyrophosphate bonds.DCPS and NDOR1 expression in human brain, liver, kidney, and testis, and DCPS expression in prostate. Immunocytochemistry of COS cells showed endogenous DCPS staining in a distinct perinuclear structure, coincident with NDOR1 staining. DCPS hydrolyzed methylated cap analog and released 7meGMP, but did not hydrolyze unmethylated cap analog or intact capped RNA.
