DnaJ/HSP40 Homolog Subfamily A, Member 3 (DNAJA3)
DNAJA3 belongs to the evolutionarily conserved DNAJ/HSP40 family of proteins. For background information on the DNAJ family. TID1 binds via its J domain to the C terminus of the oncogenic HPV-16 E7 more efficiently than to the 'low-risk' HPV-6 E7.
The predicted 480-amino acid DNAJA3 protein contains a J domain, as well as other conserved regions found in some DNAJ proteins, including a glycine/phenylalanine-rich region and a cysteine-rich region. Northern blot analysis revealed wide expression of a 2.7-kb transcript, with highest levels in heart, liver, and skeletal muscle. DNAJA3 was also expressed in foreskin keratinocytes, the normal host cells of HPVs, and in the HPV-positive HeLa cell line.
