Dual Oxidase Maturation Factor 2 (DUOXA2)

Dual oxidase activator 2

Dual Oxidase Maturation Factor 2 (DUOXA2)
DUOXA2, a resident endoplasmic reticulum (ER) protein, is required for the maturation and plasma membrane localization of DUOX2. The deduced 320-amino acid protein was predicted to have 5 transmembrane spans, including a reverse signal anchor with an extracellular N terminus (type III) and 3 N-glycosylation sites clustered within an extended external loop between transmembrane helices 2 and 3.
Northern blot analysis detected a transcript of about 1.5 kb highly expressed in thyroid. Expression was much weaker in salivary gland and was not detected in other tissues examined. Epitope-tagged DUOXA2 showed an intracellular distribution similar to the ER marker protein calnexin.
