Dynein, Axonemal, Heavy Chain 2 (DNAH2)
Dyneins are microtubule-associated motor protein complexes composed of several heavy, light, and intermediate chains. The axonemal dyneins, found in cilia and flagella, are components of the outer and inner dynein arms attached to the peripheral microtubule doublets. DNAH2 is an axonemal inner arm dynein heavy chain .
Chapelin et al. (1997) isolated partial cDNAs encoding a human dynein heavy chain (DHC), which they designated DNAHC2. By sequence analysis, Chapelin et al. (1997) determined that DNAHC2 belongs to the putative axonemal inner dynein arm DHC group and is homologous to rat DLP2. RT-PCR assays indicated that DNAHC2 is expressed primarily in trachea and testis, 2 tissues containing axonemal structures.
