Dynein, Axonemal, Heavy Chain 7 (DNAH7)
The deduced 4,025-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 461.2 kD. DNAH7 contains 4 central P loops, followed by 2 coiled-coil domains and 2 putative ATP-binding sites. Western blot analysis showed that DNAH7 expression was induced following differentiation of human bronchial epithelial cells from basal-like cells to mucociliary epithelium, concomitant with development of cilia. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed intense DNAH7 staining of cilia.
Expression was low in adult brain, and little to no expression was detected in heart, liver, skeletal muscle, pancreas, spleen, and fetal liver. Within specific adult brain regions, low expression was detected in caudate nucleus and subthalamic nucleus, and all other regions showed little to no expression.
