Dyslexia Susceptibility 2 Like Protein (DYLX2L)

Dyslexia Associated Protein Like Protein

Dyslexia Susceptibility 2 Like Protein (DYLX2L)
DYLX2L is a candidate gene for dyslexia susceptibility. Contains a C6 region and PKD and MANSC domains at its N terminus and a transmembrane region at its C terminus. They identified 2 N-glycosylated KIAA0319L isoforms and a nonglycosylated isoform. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that KIAA0319L colocalized with the axonal guidance protein NGR1 (RTN4R) in cytoplasmic granules, but not in nuclei, of human cortical neurons. Transfected HEK293 cells expressed a KIAA0319L protein at an apparent molecular mass of 140 kD. The transcript contains repetitive elements in its 3-prime end, and the deduced protein contains 639 amino acids. RT-PCR analysis revealed high KIAA0319L expression in adult amygdala and much lower expression in all adult and fetal tissues and specific adult brain regions examined.
