Enhancer Of mRNA Decapping Protein 3 (EDC3)

LSM16; YJDC; YJEFN2; YjeF N-terminal domain-containing protein 2; YjeF domain-containing protein 1

Enhancer Of mRNA Decapping Protein 3 (EDC3)
EDC3 is associated with an mRNA-decapping complex required for removal of the 5-prime cap from mRNA prior to its degradation from the 5-prime end. EDC3 contains 508 amino acids and has an N-terminal Sm domain, followed by an FDF domain and a C-terminal YjeF-N domain. EDC3 localized with decapping proteins within cytoplasmic processing bodies in HeLa cells.
EDC3, RCK (DDX6), and HEDLS (RCD8) coimmunopurified with DCP1A and DCP2 from HEK293 cell lysates. Overexpression of DCP2, RCK, or EDC3 in HeLa cells reduced the association of endogenous DCP1A and XRN1 with cytoplasmic processing bodies. EDC3 also interacted with TTP (ZFP36) in transfected HEK293 cells.
